After two successive loses it was really important to record a win, not just to get us back on track but the thought of having Christmas with 3 successive loses would have been a sour note for the festive season. We had strong team with the addition of several key players back for this fixture I was confident we could turn the books. However we needed to come out and play at our best on a Revolution side hell bent on beating us.
Revolution looks a whole new proposition with Terry at center back, and with a strong midfield pairing of Alex and Jessop I was rest assured this would be a hard game and I wasn’t wrong. We started badly again our passing seem to be wayward and we lacked options, however as the first half went on we started to play good football. Both our flanks in Murphy and Lionel were opening them up and with Carlos and Flabbo up front we seemed to have good options. This eventually resulted in our only goal which was excellently taken by Carlos. Going into the break I was confident…..we had the wind, we had the numbers this should be a formality. How wrong was I…..?
It was fair to say the 2nd half was a huge dog fight with Revolution with them having the better chances. However time and time again Richard or the back 4 saved us. We also threatened on the break and had our chances however we couldn’t capitalize.
Towards the end of the game Revo had a penalty but Richie was there again admittedly it was probably the easiest save he had to do all game. We fought gallantly and for mine Fallon and Benito along with Jason in the defence were superb. Neil as ever was holding us together with Medhi helping us on the counter attack. It was a gutsy win a bit of fortune that deserted us last week but nevertheless an excellent win on a much improved Revo side that will cause a few upsets in the fixtures they have ahead no doubt.
Henry.
Bring on the Christmas cheer. Great game to win.
