LEGAL HEAD
After getting a huge response of yes's midweek for the first time since the Cup final I had over 20 players to choose from. Maybe the wonders of getting a bag of fantasy points did the trick. Somehow I had to narrow down the squad to some manageable number which proved difficult however in the end I think we had about 17 which was about the right number.
Kick-off Halsey and Jeff still not there with 4 reserves we ventured off with a solid team. Our opposition on the other hand where taking an eternity to get ready. Legal Head in all honesty are no athletes and there are some pretty big and slow guys in that bunch, they also lacked numbers which might have some way of explaining why we kicked off 20 minutes late when finally Tunners arrived to join the melody. My thought's were racing in my mind that our team would inflict the same 7-nil drubbing that we gave to them at the same venue this time last year....the signs looked good.....little did I know.
We started off pretty slow again, this is something pretty normal for us this season not sure why but it certainly takes us an eternity to warm up. Our passing looked anything like our 2nd place standing and time and time again we gave the ball away cheaply. Fortunately for us Legal Head were even worse.
The spark for us came with the introduction of Steve, he made an immediate impact lively player he seem to have the turn of pace to cause problems. One run resulted on him taking on several players before crossing the ball for Allard simple tap-in....1-0.
I was expecting an avalanche after this but nothing really came as our passing continued to let us down. Then Legal Head had a great chance to score and Richie pulled off a superb diving save. 1-nil at half time.
Then the barrage came in the 2nd half, it was really like a comedy in slow motion. We were not playing the game in their half but in their 20 yard box which suggested if only someone could shoot we could resume the game back in the half way line. Finally Neil ended our misery with a nice goal I think he was insides the 6 yard box when he scored but I lost count on how many chances we missed by then.
All in all we should have scored more but we kept a clean sheet, our back six (in fantasy point speak) of Jean, Fallon, Ian, Gary and a belated Halsey were solid but weren't very threaten. Rich came to the fore with two excellent saves which saved us the embarrassment of not recoding all 3 points here. Of the others captain Neil shone out and was my MOM and Benito, Allard and Scott played well. Snelly looks quality and it's hopefully he will be able to play for us regularly.
We never really looked in doubt against this mob but goals were hard to come by and at time's wasn't pretty. We will need to improve on this if we are going to win the title and more importantly beat PAFC in 2 weeks time.
Henry.
