HKAE 0 vs Revolution 5

Revolution: Goals: Dave Jessop 2, Henry Bedard, Jeremy Gill, Terry Graham Assists :Jeremy Gill 2, 2 unassisted.

Clean Sheet: Richard Hudson, Jake Eagle, John Witts, Terry Graham, Chris Marshall, Rafi Hassan, Angus Young.

Both sides struggled early on, hampered by the hot day and the lunar landscape of Happy Valley pitch 4, but as the first half wore on Revolution started to impose themselves and put pressure on the HKAE defence.  The first goal came from an unlikely source, however, as Terry Graham picked up the ball in defence as a dangerous HKAE attack broke down, slalomed down the right wing, and proceeded to chip the HKAE keeper from just inside the HKAE half.  The lead was soon doubled when debutant Henry Beddard forced home a corner from close range after HKAE failed to clear.  Both scorers volunteered to be substituted immediately after scoring, Henry due to the effects of the heat and Terry because he presumably felt guilty about the fluke goal....

Comfortable at 2-0, Revolution stepped up their game in the second half and scored three good goals, a cross-shot from Jem Gill from the right edge of the penalty area (we think it was a cross, he says it was a shot), and two close range efforts from Dave Jessop, his sixth and seventh goals in 3 games, from 2 Jem crosses that came at the end of flowing moves down the right.  Pleasingly, Revo also kept their first clean sheet of the season, with a defence well marshalled by El Tel and Chris Marshall restricting HKAE to just one shot on target and a couple of corners.  Revo were also close to more goals, with Dave hitting the bar during the game's last attack, Al Moore hitting both post and bar, and Terry heading a corner against the crossbar.

Revolution look to consolidate their winning run against Spartans this coming Saturday.
