HKAE 1 vs Revolution 1
HKAE: Goals: Marcus Ng Assists: Keith Lam
Revolution: Goals: Stevie McGraw Assists: Vinnie Rowse
Cool and dry - a perfect Saturday for a game of league football.
Despite successive defeats morale was still high in the HKAE's dressing room. HKAE were looking for their first win of the season but Revolution did not look like a generous team to share points with anyone.
Both sides had their fair chances in the first twenty minutes with HKAE strikers hitting the best two just over the bar.
It was Revo who scored the opening, a quickly taken freekick caught HKAE defense completely off-guard, half of the HKAE team were still lining up the wall when they saw the ball inside their box. being totally unmarked, Stevie McGraw calmly thundered the ball beyond reach of the HKAE goalie --- 1 - 0 up and that remained as the score line when we heard the half-time whistle.
Second half HKAE deployed an attacking formation hoping to put pressure on the Revo's defense. It was clearly a dangerous way to play the game against Revo but the tactic paid off with Keith Lam finally broke through from the left and set up Marcus Ng for a tap in --- 1 - All and still some twenty minutes to go.
Thereafter it was HKAE who had the momentum and Revo attacks were limited to outside the HKAE penalty area. Before the final whistle two more shots came from HKAE though neither was enough to trouble Revo's goalkeeping giant.
Generally an evenly matched game,
though with a bit more luck HKAE might have left the field with the badly needed
three points.
