Legal Head: Goals: ????
HKAE fans witnessed their first win of the season in this bottom of the table clash between HKAE and Legal Head.
The two teams struggled to find rhythm at the early stage of the game. The battle stalled in the middle of the pitch as both sides put out a conservative formation.
It took an own goal 25 minutes into the game to separate the score line. A Legal Head’s back-flick header directed winger Keith Lam’s cross over the unfortunate keeper before dropping into its own net. Dismay for the Legal Heads and it was the HKAE’s first goal in four games and people would be guessing that the HKAEs might snatch their first victory through the courtesy of an own goal.
Second half saw Legal Heads regrouping themselves in search for an equalizer. A couple quality players shone for Legal Heads but they weren’t able to get a clean shot on goal. On the other end of the pitch the HKAEs were also passing the ball well and almost found the target with their quick one-twos and pace. After an intensified 10 minutes it was center midfielder Gary Chow who extended HKAE’s lead with a calm finish. 2-0 and relief for HKAE.
Being two goals down the Legal Heads had to fight against time and they managed to force several corners. Their hard work was rewarded (or thought to be) when the ref called for handball and pointed to the penalty spot ---- only for it to become the premonition of another defeat when the spot kick smashed the left pole.
With the momentarily dispirited opponent’s pushing forward the HKAEs’ counter attacks were looking more dangerous than ever and they took opportunity to score again this time by the attacking partnership of Marcus Ng and Kevin Chan. 3-0.
Legal Heads got a consolation for their relentless effort 10 minutes before the final whistle. A well-taken free kick from the left found a Legal Head’s player 6 yard inside the box - making it a respectable score line to reflect the intensity of the game.
The rematch in a month’s time will be much looked forward to.
