BOC edged ADW 3-2 in another closely fought game to maintain their perfect start to the season. ADW wearing their new red kit started brightly and it took an early brave save by the BOC goalie to keep the scores even. BOCs should have been 1-0 after 20 minutes. Jason beating the offside trap had only the goalie to beat with the defence completey at odds. From about 5 yards, he pulled it wide, a shocking miss by his standards. Fortunately, moments later, he made up for it.

With the ADW defense caught out again, he was fed the ball by Chi, ran 15 yards before whacking the ball into the centre left of the goal with the keeper motionless. It was a goal that the BOCs richly deserved.

The second half began with ADW seeking the equaliser. With them throwing caution to the wind they were always suspect to a counterattack. Sure enough, ADW got hit with a sucker punch. A floated ball to Jason by Kevin seemed to be well marshalled by the ADW defence, yet with 4 defenders around Jason, he managed to jump the tackles, drag it on to his right foot and score from just outside the 6 yard area. It was a well taken goal but in truth, the ADW defence was at fault. With the BOCs now cruising, a silly error at the back allowed ADW to pull it back to 2-1, an unstoppable shot hitting the underside of the crossbar left the BOC keeper motionless this time.

Stung by this goal, the BOCs then defended the only way they know how, which was to go on the offensive and they made it 3-1 by a great solo effort by Tony Choi. Picking up the ball inside his own half, through a combination of skill, luck and again bad defending, dribbled all the way through to the goalie and coolly slotted the ball past a stranded goalie. The 2-goal lead had been restored with 10 minutes to play. However any thoughts of taking it easy again was immediately wiped away by an ADW goal.

A huge ADW goal kick was glanced the wrong way by a BOC defender. With the ball having not even touched the ground, the ADW player brilliantly with an outstretched foot, volleyed the ball into the air. Whether it was luck or skill, he actually managed to volley-lob (is this a word - but that is what happened!?) the ball over the BOC keeper who was no more than 6 yards off the line. Again the BOCs had witnessed another wonder goal against them. With only a few minutes left, ADW piled on the pressure to seek the equalizer but the BOC defense held firm and deservedly took all 3 points.

I'm leaving the report to Cheezer. Was quite a tight game, chances at both ends, settled by some great finishing from Jason and Tony - though our defence was like the Red Sea in front of Moses! Charlie scored the goal of the season - flicked on the volley from a punt from the keeper, right over their keeper's head. He reckons he meant it, as well.
