Legal League Match Reports
Season 2006-2007

Sat 7 October 2006 - Po Tsui Park 4.30pm

ADW 2 vs LEGAL HEAD 1

ADW: Goals:   ?????  Assists : ?????

LEGAL HEAD: Goals:  Vikram Singh  Assist: Andy Mitchell

Although ADW only turned up with 11, having 7 Danish players in their team, most of whom have played in the Yau Yee 1st division meant they had a fairly strong line up.  Even with Oatesy in goal, to be replaced by Phil later on, it was never going to be easy to beat them.  There wasn't really a great deal of champagne football being played, with most of the efforts at either end coming from balls over the top.  Legal Head had a couple of 1 on 1s in the first half which they failed to capitalise on, whilst Morten from ADW managed to score ADW's goal from a ball over the top of our defence.  Special mention for Nick's amazing 60 yard run, latching onto a perfect ball, before seeing it spooned somewhere out of the park.  A feat that was to be duplicated at a later stage by Morten I think.

Second half was really more of the same, although the game did open up a little bit and there was a bit more passing going on from both teams.  ADW got their second, can't really remember it.  Legal Head's goal came from some quality passing - first there were some great passing in the LH midfield, that was ended with a cleverly thought out pass straight to the ADW left back.  He then played an inch perfect pass to Mitchell, who passed to Vikram.  The onrushing keeper was beaten with a great finish.  Both sides had a few chances to score more.  Our fool of a right back, using the watching Solly as his idol, got into 2 great crossing opportunities before slicing the cross just over the bar.  Although had it gone in, it would have been sheer genius spotting the keeper off his line.  We won't even mention the lob over the keeper, who was on the edge of the box, that barely reached the 6 yard box and was going wide.

Moment of the match goes easily to Simon.  5 minutes to go.  Tunners, having been given the task of sorting out substitutions from the touchline, opts to bring a striker on for the last 5 mins instead of a defender.  What follows is their conversation:

Simon: Why there's only 5 mins to go
Tunners: exactly, we're 2-1 down and we need to chase the game
Simon: I thought its 1-1

You have to feel sorry for the Welsh Wizard - the mere thought of having to sort out the 20 people clearly got too much for him.  End result 2-1, but good news for Legal Head being that we're almost up to last year's goal tally.

Never did see the conkers, but Simon did seem to cheer in the 5th Slovakian goal, and then England's rather poor showing topped off a great day.  Not to mention Scotland won.
